Roots

In 2010, Justin had an idea for a dream project, and began developing in his mind a world in the not-too-distant future. A world destroyed by a mysterious enemy. A world with a faint hope.

Around the same time, Brian drafted a screenplay following two brothers at odds that had to struggle to survive after the decline of civilization. A story about tenacity. A story about sacrifice.

In 2013, Justin and Brian decided to collaborate on their senior thesis film. They fused their visions together with the core essence of Justin’s world and Brian’s story.

In spring of 2014, Justin directed a 7 minute sci-fi short film for a class project. The story told was just one small glimpse of a larger story. Soon to be released online, this film is the prequel for the short film, Persist.

Pitch

A man trekking across the burnt planes of post-apocalyptic America to find his lost brother is faced with physical and psychological obstacles that force him to make a choice that could cost the life of those he holds most dear.

Core Themes

In the story of Persist, Will, the protagonist, is faced with trials and choices that exemplify themes of love, tenacity, and hope. That human tenacity is insufficient. That there is hope in every situation. That real love is sacrificial.
